Austin office Day of Service
Austin office Day of Service

Volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House
of Central Texas

The Austin corporate office chose the Ronald McDonald House of Central Texas for our “Day of Service” project.

Helping a sick child fight their illness takes a big enough emotional toll on a family. The Ronald McDonald House and Ronald McDonald Family Rooms are a comforting “home-away-from-home” that keeps families close to their hospitalized children. The Happy Wheels Carts stroll the hospital hallways bringing complimentary items to families waiting by their child’s bedside and the Healing Hearts program supports families that have tragically lost a child.

Our office created two hundred snack, breakfast, and toiletry bags filled with essentials and goodies for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House, Family Rooms, and the Happy Wheels carts. We spent the morning filling all the bags and then everyone loaded up and delivered them to the Ronald McDonald House near Dell Children’s Hospital in Austin. Paula Duke (Volunteer & Programs Director for RMHC) spoke to our group explaining all about the house and everything that they do to help families that have sick children and have come to Austin for help.

It was a wonderful, and extremely rewarding experience for our entire staff.
